Unit 1 Friendship Using language
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. I am No.5. It’s my great honor to present my lesson here.
My topic today is reading and writing, from Unit 1Friendship, Book 1.
My teaching plan is made up of 4 parts, which is Analysis of the teaching material, Analysis of
the students and teaching methods, Teaching Procedures and Blackboard Design.
Part 1 Analysis of the teaching material
Status
The reading passage is a letter asking for help fromBOOK 1, UNIT 1, Using language., whose
topic is “Friendship”. It talks about a girl who has trouble communicating with people and ask you
for some advice. It’s a good material for students to give some advice and write a letter of advice .
Teaching aims
(by the end of the lesson, students should be able to)
1.know some basic sentences to write a letter of advice
2.give some helpful suggestions to their friends when they are in trouble
3.write a letter of advice for Xiao Dong to help him out
Teaching Important and difficult points:
1.Students are able to think of some suggestions for Xiao Dong
2.Students are able to find out the basic structure of writing a letter of advice
3.Students are able to finish a letter of advice for Xiao Dong with teamwork
Part 2 Analysis of the Students and teaching methods
These students are Grade One students, who are just entered senior high school. On the one
hand, the students have some basic ability of writing. They are able to write some simple
sentences. Besides, they are creative. Thus, they can give a lot of helpful suggestions to Xiao
Dong.One another hand, their writing is not so good. For a letter of advice, if we do not teach
them step by step, teach them the structure, or give them some sentence patterns, they probably
can not finish a complete letter on their own or, for most cases, they can not well organize the
letter and the structure of the letter is chaotic.
To learn in use and to use in learn is always what we are advocating in English teaching and
learning. So I will use some teaching methods to help the students to master more reading skills.
Here are these methods:
1. Task-based teaching and learning
2. autonomic learning and cooperative learning
3. Discussion
Part 3 Teaching Procedures
Step 1 leading-in
The teacher greeted the students by asking “How are you doing today?”. Then the teacher shares h
er own experience of not getting along well with her workmates.So she asks some suggestions fro
m the students.After students give some advice to the teacher, they are required to watch a video a
nd see what Xiao Dongs problem is and what he is asking for.
Step 2 Discussion
Students are divided into groups of four and are asked to have a discussion.
Think of some suggestions for Xiao Dong to help him out.
