It's intended for use in presentations so your audience can see what you're pointing at on the screen, since most programs show the pen's location with an eensy-weenie-teenie-tiny dot that is almost impossible to see on a projector screen. Requirements: .NET Framework 4.6 or higher Windows 8 or higher; pen optional but recommended! Version 11 should run on Windows 7 or lower, but I recommend you use PenAttention 1.4 or CursorAttention 1.4 instead. CHANGES IN VERSION 11 --------------------- * Fixed division by zero bug that could occur on startup * Removed extended monitor feature * Supports accurate highlighting on multiple monitors and different screen magnifications settings LIMITATIONS ----------- The main limitation is that PenAttention does not work properly in 64 bit apps. It only works with 32 bit apps. This includes: * OneNote for Windows 10 (the default version that comes with Windows, formerly the Metro app) * 64 bit versions of Office 365 or Office 2019 or older I am still looking for a workaround for 64 bit apps, I need a different mechanism to detect the pen. Perhaps things will be different with the release of Windows 11. In the meantime the only workaround I have is to install 32 bit version of apps, such as OneNote or Word. You can install 32 bit versions side-by-side with 64 bit versions if desired. UPGRADE INSTALLATION -------------------- If you have an older version of PenAttention installed, you can simply install over the old version. If CursorAttention is installed then you should uninstall it first. INSTALLATION ------------ Run the installer. The program will be added to your startup folder and an entry will be placed in your Start Menu. INSTRUCTIONS ------------ After running the program (by default, it is added to your startup folder so it will start automatically upon bootup), a new icon will be placed in the system tray. Click or right-click the icon to bring up a menu to select whether to display a highlight around the pen tip or draw a pencil or a pointer. De-select all options or exit the program to revert to usual pen behavior without any special icon. The "Highlight Settings" menu option allows you to control the color, opacity, shape, and size of the highlighted area. You can also select a checkbox to enable highlighting for the mouse in addition to the pen. If you enable the "Toggle Color on Right Click" option then right-clicking the mouse or pen will cycle through three sets of highlight colors. You can also select between CTRL-F9 or CTRL-ALT-F9 as hotkeys to enable or disable the highlight. If you have a tablet PC, you might want to map the hotkey to a hardware button in the control panel. If you would like to make a custom pencil/pen icon, then use a paint program and create a PNG image named "CustomPen.png" and put it in the PenAttention install folder. Normally, the install folder will be somewhere in your "Program Files" folder. The upper left corner of the image will map to the location of the pen or mouse. Make sure to include a transparent color if you want the background to show through. The installation includes a demo image named "RenameToCustomPen.png" that you can experiment with as a starting point. You will have to exit and restart PenAttention before any changes to this file will be visible in the program.
