The left ventricle is divided into
basal, mid, and apical segments
by dividing it into thirds along
the long axis, with basal corresponding to
the region form mitral annulus to the tips
of the papillary muscles; mid includes the
entire length of the papillary muscles; apex

papillary muscles to just before the cavity
ends, and the apical cap is the area of
