Module: XJME 1010 Computers in Engineering Analysis.
Time allowed: 173 hours
Attempt ALL questions
There are 9 questions. All students should submit an m-file and GUI files by 5pm
on Monday 23
rd
December via Minerva. Late penalties will apply.
Complete each question below in this file. All tasks should be undertaken
programmatically in MATLAB. The assessment's supporting files:

These should be placed in your working directory.
Some answers will be checked automatically, please ensure you leave the variable
names that are given in the code as they are. DO NOT change the variable names! Each
marked variable is already included in the code, remove the double percentage signs
before the variable name (%%) and you can complete the lines of code. To check that all
the variables have been correctly created, once complete run your solution in MATLAB
and then run check_variables.p. It will check all marked variables are correctly named in
your code and prompt you which ones, if any, are incorrect.
Questions may need multiple lines of code. You can create as many additional variables
as you need to but make sure they are not overwriting existing marked variables. Aside
from at the beginning of your code, do not include the clear function anywhere else.
The mark is out of 75. It will account for 50% of the module mark. You will need 40% in
the module to pass. Once you have completed the assessment, save your file as
username.m, where username is your University username, e.g. mn96aej.m, and upload
to Minerva. You will also upload your GUI programme, again with your username in the
filename, e.g. mn96aej_gui.mlapp.
Leave the question comments in the m-file. For the more complex questions you may
want to add comments. Marks will not be awarded for commenting.
All work should be your own and there will be checks for plagiarism. Generative AI is NOT
permitted for this assessment and again, there will be checks for this.
