Instructions for the use of “Brooks DLL” with LabVIEW and Windows
Operating Systems
Date: July 11, 2012
File: 164J027_AC.zip
DLL Version: 1.0.0.2
0254 Read Out version: 1.0.05
Dear Brooks LabVIEW DLL User,
After unzipping the zip file, you now have 2 folders called ‘0254’ and ‘S-Protocol’. The
‘0254’ folder contains 12 LabVIEW example files driving the new 0254 Read Out device.
The ‘S-Protocol’ folder contains 17 LabVIEW example files driving Brooks S-Protocol based
products, e.g. S-Series (58xxS), SLA (SLA58xxS), 4800 (48xxS), GF040/080 digital mass
flow and the 0152/4 Read Out devices. Theses LabVIEW example files were written in
version 6.1 and require the BrooksDLL.dll shared library, which is located in each of these
folders.
1 0254 Read Out v1.0.0.5
This version of the Brooks DLL contains LabVIEW example files driving the 0254 Read Out
device. Note that in order to successfully use these LabVIEW examples the firmware version
of the 0254 Read Out device needs to be V10.05.13 (Vyy.mm.dd date syntax) or later.
The ‘Application Example’ uses the lower level Examples and will put up a window
containing an overview of all 4 channels of the 0254 Read Out. The Setpoint and the Valve
Override can be changed per channel. Next to using the up/down buttons and the entry field
to change the Setpoint, you can also click on any part of the vertical ‘SP’ bar to change the
Setpoint. Both the Setpoint (SP) and Process Value (PV) bar will give you a graphical
indication of the Setpoint and Process Variable value. Since the baudrate over the serial line
is only 9600 baud, updates of the Process Variable in case of Setpoint changes will not be
immediate. In order to improve the performance you can disable unused channels. The Log
Data button will put up an explorer window to select or create a text file which will be used
by the application to log data.
