Abstract
With the advancement of technology, traditional sign-in methods can no longer
meet the modern society's demands for efficiency and accuracy. This thesis designs and
implements an intelligent attendance system based on facial recognition technology,
which effectively enhances the management efficiency and security of the sign-in
process. The system is developed using the Python language and supported by the
SQLite database, enabling rapid entry of user information, collection and storage of
facial features, and efficient facial recognition algorithms. By integrating Haar feature-
based cascade classifiers and Local Binary Patterns Histograms (LBPH) algorithms, the
system can accurately recognize users' faces under various lighting and angle
conditions, ensuring the accuracy of sign-in data. The system also provides a user-
friendly interface and functions for querying and managing sign-in records, making it
easy for users and administrators to perform daily sign-in operations and monitor
attendance data. A series of system tests have verified the feasibility and effectiveness
of the attendance system in terms of functionality, performance, and user experience,
offering a new type of attendance solution for educational institutions, enterprises, and
beyond.
