An IP Scanner with Hostname resolution and TraceRoute capabilities
--
Usage
~~~~~
Select the IP range required, anything between 0.0.0.0 and 255.255.255.255. To aid with selection, a HostName can be typed into the 'HostName' Box, and Click 'Lookup'. Upon a successful Lookup, the IP will be inserted into the most appropriate IP box.
Select the Maximum number of 'Simultaneous Scans' required (to a maximum of 100)
--
Select the Options required:
PING - perform a PING on the IP Address, using as many Packets as required
Resolve Names - attempt to resolve the Hostname of the IP Address being scanned
TraceRoute - perform a TraceRoute to the IP Address being scanned, upto as many hops as required
Resolve Traced Names - attempt to resolve the HostNames at each Hop of the TraceRoute
--
Click 'Start' and the Scan.
Press 'Abort' at any time to stop.
--
The Progress of the Scanning is displayed on the Progress window guages, and in the Results window.
Each stage is colour-coded, and an icon is displayed in the Results window!
--
Clicking the headers of the Results grid will sort the columns.
Also a 'Magnifier' window is provided - when the mouse is moved over the results grid, the contents of the cell is shown here. This is helpful for TraceRoutes which spanned many hops - each hop is displayed on a separate line.
NB. This program uses the 'unsupported' ICMP.dll file, which Microsoft introduced due to a lack of SOCK_RAW implementation in earlier versions of windows. There are programs which use the proper Berkeley SOCK_RAW approach, but frankly they are scary! So far all versions of windows have included ICMP.Dll (indeed M$ use it themselves) - but it could disappear without notice...
ENJOY IT! It's free!
