• Baseband Receiver Design for Wireless MIMO-OFDM Communications

The Second Edition of OFDM Baseband Receiver Design for Wirless Communications, this book expands on the earlier edition with enhanced coverage of MIMO techniques, additional baseband algorithms, and more IC design examples. The authors cover the full range of OFDM technology, from theories and algorithms to architectures and circuits. The book gives a concise yet comprehensive look at digital communication fundamentals before explaining signal processing algorithms in receivers. The authors give detailed treatment of hardware issues - from architecture to IC implementation. Links OFDM and MIMO theory with hardware implementation Enables the reader to transfer communication received concepts into hardware; design wireless receivers with acceptable implemntation loss; achieve low-power designs Covers the latest standards, such as DVB-T2, WiMax, LTE and LTE-A Includes more baseband algorithms, like soft-decoding algorithms such as BCJR and SOVA Expanded treatment of channel models, detection algorithms and MIMO techniques Features concrete design examples of WiMAX systems and cognitive radio Companion website with lecture slides for instructors

  • Galileo System Signal Draft Standard

The Galileo Open Service Signal In Space Interface Control Document Draft 1 (OS SIS ICD Draft 1) and the information contained herein is made available to the public by the European GNSS Supervisory Authority (GSA) for information, standardization, research and development purposes. The OS SIS ICD Draft 1 provides an overview of the Galileo system, the signal-in-space radio frequency characteristics, the characteristics of the spreading codes, the message structures and the characteristics of the navigation message data contents. The OS SIS ICD Draft 1 is an update of the OS SIS ICD Draft 0 document published in May 2006 by the Galileo Joint Undertaking on its website. The main updates brought to this document are: * The Multiplex Binary Offset Carrier (MBOC) modulation has replaced the BOC(1,1) modulation for the Galileo E1 signal according to the recommendation of the GPS-Galileo Working Group on Compatibility and Interoperability operating under the aegis of the EU-US Agreement on the promotion, provision and use of Galileo and GPS satellite-based navigation systems and related applications of 26 June 2004. * The structure of the Search and Rescue (SAR) data in the Galileo E1 signal is included. The Galileo SAR service provides enhanced distress localisation and call features for the provision of an SAR service interoperable with the COSPAS-SARSAT system. The present document is a draft, which is subject to modification, update, and variations.

  • (Book) Near-Capacity Multi-Functional MIMO Systems Sphere-Packing, Iterative Detection and Cooperation (Wiley - IEE)

Providing an all-encompassing self-contained treatment of Near-Capacity Multi-Functional MIMO Systems , the book starts by categorizing the family of Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) schemes as diversity techniques, multiplexing schemes, multiple access arrangements and beam-forming techniques. Sophisticated coherent and low-complexity non-coherent MIMO receivers dispensing with channel estimation are considered in both classic and cooperation-aided scenarios. It is demonstrated that in the presence of correlated shadow-fading, cooperation-assisted systems may be expected to outperform their non-cooperative counterparts. The book contains a 100-page chapter on the unified treatment of all block codes in the context of high-flexibility, cutting-edge irregular Linear Dispersion Codes (LDC), which approach the MIMO-capacity. The majority of the book’s solutions are in the optimum sphere-packing frame-work. * Sophisticated amalgam of five year’s near-capacity MIMO research * Detailed examination of wireless landscape, including the fields of channel coding, spacetime coding and turbo detection techniques * Novel tool of Extrinsic Information Transfer Charts (EXIT) used to address recent developments * Material presented logically, allowing advanced readers to turn directly to any specific chapter of interest * One of the only books to cover these subjects, giving equal weighting to each
