* If it is running, stop the Internet Services Manager (heretofore refered to as ISM).

* Try to start it. Get a message like:
"Running the project requires setting an initial Web page. To set this page, right-click the desired page in the SOlution explorer and select "Set As Start Page"".
* Do it. Select Service1.asmx as the start page.
* Receive a long-winded message similar to:"

Click "No"."
Configure your new directory as a virtual dir in ISM:
* You should observe the new directory (HelloWorld in this example)in the list of virtual directories in the left pane of ISM.
* Note that the new HelloWorld directory has a plain folder icon; it does not have the same icon as other virtual directories.
* Right-click on it, go to properties.
* In the first page, in Application Settings, click "Create" This will associate a virtual directory. The name of the virtual dir will be populated. Click Apply.
* Notice the icon has changed, indicating that a web app resides at that directory.
* Now you can run your web service from within the VS .Net debugger.
* You may be prompted for the name and password of an account that has permission do debug a web application. If so, supply them.
 You should be able to run the web service from within the VS .Net IDE at this point.
