About PdxEditor.exe for Paradox and dBase tables.
The PdxEditor.exe depends on locally installed Borland Database Engine (BDE).
Basic installation: Besides BDE, no need to copy any other files than PdxEditor.exe.
The PdxEditor.exe by default creates it's own INI-file PdxEditor.ini
containing information about the user's selections for the currently used
Help system - whatever Microsoft HTMLHelp (.chm) or generic WebHelp.
WebHelp preferentially is located at some web server but may also be placed
locally on your hard drive or on a network file server.
HTMLHelp will NOT work on a network file server due to JScript restrictions
(since June 2005) in the Internet Explorer modules servicing the
Microsoft HTMLHelp viewer.
WebHelp is intended to be located on a web server and will thus work with any browser.
WebHelp will however also work placed locally or on network file server but in
some browsers (Chrome, FireFox, Opera, Internet Explorer) according to the security
policy of the browsers without the dynamically folding Table of Contents due
to JavaScripts restrictions outside web servers.
Currently the Microsoft Edge browser does not imply this security policy and
will thus display WebHelp as intended even if used locally.
To recreate the INI-file: delete the existing one and PdxEditor.exe will
by the next session recreate the INI-file with default settings.
As an alternative to the BDE Administrator the included BDEconfig.exe is for
quick access to some of the most basic subsets of the BDE settings.
If you need tables in the FDS format (not a capacity of PdxEditor), you may use
the included ParadoxCdsFdsExport.exe enabling to export Paradox/dBase to the
either the CDS or the FDS table format.
