------------------------
Note: This sample application and corresponding sample code is provided
for example purposes only. It has not undergone rigorous testing
and as such should not be shipped as part of a final application
without extensive testing on the part of the organization releasing
the end-user product.
The ASIA MapX demo is a Visual Basic 5.0 application which shows a number
of things:
1) Loading of a GeoSet, and setting layer properties like zoom layering
and autolabeling at design time through the Property sheet of the
MapX control.
2) Data binding using a Visual Basic Data control.
3) Use of 'helper dialogs' for legend control and thematic settings.
4) An event handler that handles the Legend Double Click event to 'modify'
the theme.
5) An event handler that updates a text box that shows the current zoom
level.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
------------------------
To get this running, you need to make sure the Data Control on the theme1
form points to the MAPSTATS.MDB file loaded into MapX's DATA directory.
The database used in the MDB file is ASIA (the RecordSource property for
the Data control).
The Application has several buttons and menus:
Buttons to control the map:
Select - highlights individual features
Pan - move the map
Zoom In - zooms in to specified area
Zoom Out - zooms out
Menus access the following controls:
File>Exit - Exits the application.
Map>Layer Control - Accesses map layer controls for adding/removing
map data layers and auto-labeling map data layers.
Data>Create Theme. - Access thematic mapping functionality, combining
map data layers with bound demographic data sets.
Other features:
When a legend is displayed (after a thematic map is created),
double clicking on the legend displays a dialog allowing you to
change styles for the legend or a ranged thematic map.
