Contents of the HITRAN Compilation
This edition of the HITRAN compilation is
described in an article in the HITRAN web
site
(http://www-cfa.harvard.edu/HITRAN/docs.
html). The compilation consists of seven
main folders: the HITRAN absorption line-
by-line transition database, infrared cross-
sections, ultraviolet absorption data (both
line-by-line and cross-sections), tables of
aerosol refractive indices, collision-induced
absorption data, line-coupling algorithms,
and general data files.
All data files are in ASCII and are
given in compressed form as well,
either as zip or gzip. The convention
for data files is to use an extension of
“.par” for the line-by-line files, an
extension of “.xsc” for the cross-section
files, and an extension “.alt” for some
files with their original experimental
values.
The structure of the compilation is
given in the following figure.
