JavaFX Mobile By: Pranay Patadiya
JavaFX Mobile is the JavaFX application platform for mobile devices and a part of JavaFX platform.
SCOPE:
JavaFX Mobile applications can be developed in the same language, JavaFX Script, as JavaFX
applications for browser or desktop, and using the same tools:
➢ JavaFX SDK
➢ JavaFX Production Suite
This concept makes it possible to share code-base and graphics assets for desktop and mobile
applications.
Through integration with Java ME, the JavaFX applications have access to capabilities of the underlying
handset, such the filesystem, camera, GPS, bluetooth.
One of the key points is the power of Java. If someone has a Java application they can add a JavaFX
front to it and create a nice, rich interface. If you want to create a web-resident and desktop-resident
application, you get the unified Java platform runtime to do it. Doing this with the competitor platforms is
hard.
JavaFX scripting language is very easy to learn. One, who doesn’t know it, can start development in it
with minimal time.
This technology is completely open source publish by Sun Microsystems.
JavaFX Supported Mobile:
➢ Sony Ericsson, LG Electronics, Orange, Sprint, Cynergy and MobiTV.
➢ JavaFX Mobile is an independent application platform, built on Java that is capable of running
across nearly any mobile operating system, including Android, Windows Mobile, and proprietary
real-time operating systems.
➢ Sun demonstrated JavaFX applications running on Android in May 2008 at JavaOne in San
Francisco.
CONCLUSION:
I have done the much more R&D about this technology and it seems very impressive and I think it is a
great deal to build GUI with the JavaFX.
