Before you can run the ATM Simulation application, you have to register a DSN (Data Source Name) for the Customers.mdb (Microsoft Access DB) to your system ODBC Administrator. "ATMCustomers" without the quotes is hardcoded in the application for the DSN. If you don't know how to register a DSN do the following:
with WinXP and WinNT.
1. go to the control panel->administrative tools.
2. double click on Data Sources (ODBC) shortcut.
3. select the System DSN tab.
4. click add.
5. select Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb).
6. click finish.
7. enter "ATMCustomers" in the Data Source Name textfield.
8. click select button in the Database button group.
9. find the Customers.mdb dbfile (found in the same directory as this file).
10. click ok to close the open file dialog.
11. click ok to close the Data Sources (ODBC) dialog.
Now you can run the RunSimulation.bat.
BTW this requires that you have jre1.4.0. I tested it to run with the custom graphics for jdk1.2 and I got unexpected results.
Hey, I built this application from scratch with swing components. I just thought about how an ATM functions and worked from there.
One more thing, I hope the font "Impact" is standard on all win os platforms because it's the only font I used for this project just to see what other non-standard fonts I could use.
