AIGC Technology: Reshaping the Future of the Animation

Abstract. This paper explores the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence-assisted Generative
Content (AIGC) technology in the animation industry. AIGC's key components, including Generative
Adversarial Networks (GANs), Natural Language Processing (NLP), Reinforcement Learning, Virtual
Reality (VR), and Augmented Reality (AR) are elucidated. The technology is seen to catalyze
innovations in character and scene design, storyline construction, and scriptwriting, enhancing
creativity and efficiency. AIGC's application in music and sound effects production, special effects
and editing workflows, as well as in rendering and collaboration stages is also discussed,
showcasing the improved work efficiency and quality of final products achieved through AI-assisted
tools. Through a case study of the pioneering AIGC-assisted animation, "The Dog and the Boy," we
demonstrate the potential of AIGC in driving commercial animation. Despite its current limitations,
the study concludes that AIGC technology is poised to reshape the animation industry, promising a
future marked by enhanced creative expression, increased efficiency, and the successful integration
of AI in traditional workflows.

1. Introduction
The introduction of Artificial Intelligence in Graphics and Creativity (AIGC) technologies marks
a significant leap forward in the realm of digital media. AIGC integrates the principles of AI with the
processes of graphic design and creative production, leading to unprecedented advancements in the
domain. The technology holds a crucial position in the current technological landscape, given its
potential to revolutionize various aspects of creative industries, particularly animation.
The utilization of AIGC in the animation industry signifies a shift in the paradigms of creative
production and realization. From automating rudimentary tasks to enhancing the efficiency and
quality of complex production processes, AIGC technologies promise to reshape the future of
animation in ways previously unimaginable. This paper aims to shed light on the application of AIGC
in the animation industry and the potential transformations it could trigger in the future.
2. Literature Review
The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into various sectors has driven innovative
developments, with AI-assisted Generative Content (AIGC) technology triggering significant shifts
in animation. This review condenses key elements and applications of AIGC, emphasizing Generative
Adversarial Networks (GANs), Natural Language Processing (NLP), Reinforcement Learning,
Virtual Reality (VR), and Augmented Reality (AR).
GANs have become a cornerstone in AI, generating new content through adversarial training
between two neural networks. Their role in animation involves creating realistic textures, characters,
and environments, lightening the artists' workload and enhancing visual quality (Goodfellow et al.,
2014; Karras et al., 2019).
NLP allows computers to comprehend and process human language, resulting in efficient, dynamic
storytelling. Additionally, Reinforcement Learning aids procedural animations by training agents to
execute complex tasks, promoting interactive, adaptive storytelling experiences (Sutton & Barto,
2018; Vaswani et al., 2017).
