Product Overview ---------------- SecureCRT protects your passwords, user accounts, and data, combining rock-solid terminal emulation with the strong encryption, broad authentication options, and data integrity of the Secure Shell (SSH) protocol. SecureCRT provides versatile solutions for business, network manage- ment, information security, and development tasks, from accessing host-based applications and administering servers to securely accessing behind-the-firewall network resources like email, files, and printers. SecureCRT supports SSH2, SSH1, Telnet, serial, and Raw on all platforms. On Windows, Telnet/TLS, RLogin, and TAPI are supported. Authentication methods include password, public key, X.509 certificate, Kerberos v5 via GSSAPI, and keyboard interactive. Ciphers include AES-CTR, AES, Twofish, Blowfish, 3DES, and RC4. Choose from a wide range of emulations, most with ANSI color. Unicode support includes the ability to display character sets from multiple languages, support for languages with right-to-left reading order, and a character encoding list that includes commonly-used encodings as well as all encodings supported by the local system. SecureCRT features a multi-session tabbed or tiled interface with extensive session management and customization features. Customi- zation options include toolbars and menus (Windows only), keymaps, button bar, and login scripts, as well as fonts, cursors, and color schemes. A dockable session manager provides quick connection to sessions. Named sessions and firewalls let you create individual configurations that can be used on a session-specific basis. A personal data folder provides private and separate storage of sensitive information so that other configuration data can be stored on a network drive or in the cloud for use on different systems or for sharing with colleagues. Other features include auto logon, printing, Emacs mode, and SOCKS firewall support. Routine configuration tasks can be automated using powerful scripting capabilities including ActiveX scripting support for VBScript, JScript, and PerlScript on Windows, embedded Python support on all platforms, and the script recorder. Securely transfer files using Zmodem, Xmodem, Ymodem, or Kermit from an SSH1, SSH2, or TLS session. Upload files easily by dragging and dropping them onto an SFTP tab or session window. A built-in TFTP server provides additional flexi- bility for transferring files. Save steps with the close integration of SecureCRT and the SecureFX(R) file transfer client, which share sessions and settings that let you run SFTP, FTP, SCP, and FTP/TLS file transfer sessions without reentering passwords. New For SecureCRT 8.3 ------------------------ SecureCRT 8.3 enhances the user interface with built-in Solarized and other ANSI color schemes and line rewrapping when the SecureCRT window is resized. Save time with a new Connect bar auto complete and the ability to drag and drop multiple sessions in the Session Manager and Connect dialog. A paste confirmation dialog option helps prevent accidental pastes of multiple lines of text. Also new is support for ChaCha20/Poly 1305, AES-GCM, and OpenSSH certificates. Here are some of the new features in SecureCRT 8.3: UI Enhancements Enhanced ANSI color: New built-in ANSI color schemes, including Solarized, make it easy to change the look of your terminal work- space. Choose from a variety of light and dark color combinations, all of which have coordinated background, foreground, and ANSI color combinations. Line rewrapping When the SecureCRT window is resized, the text in the terminal area is rewrapped. Connect bar auto complete Connect bar auto complete begins filtering as you type, making it easier to find and connect to saved sessions. Paste confirmation dialog A paste confirmation dialog option allows you to preview the contents of the paste buffer before pasting multiple lines of text into a session. This helps prevent accidental pasting of buffer contents into a production or other critical server. Time-saving enhancements Drag and drop multiple sessions: Multiple sessions can be dragged and dropped or copied and pasted in the Session Manager and Connect dialog. Session management: Filtered searches in the Session Manager and Connect bar are faster, which is helpful when the session database is large or located on a network drive. Larger recent sessions list: Up to 16 sessions can now be included on the recent session list. Encryption enhancements Support has been added for the SSH2 ChaCha20/Poly1305 and AES-GCM ciphers and the UMAC-128 MAC algorithm. OpenSSH certificates can now be used for authenticating SSH2 sessions. Scripting enhancements Scripting enhancements include the ability to script session locking from the Session object. A global INI-file-only option to specify the script path has also been added. Other enhancements SSH2 improvements: If a session cannot be cloned or connected using SFTP on the existing SSH transport, SecureCRT will create a new transport. Update improvement (new for Mac): The "Update Now" menu item is now also available for the Mac. Check for a newer version of SecureCRT, and if available, click on a button to download and install the new version. Improved argument passing (new for Mac): Arguments can now be passed to a local application that is launched when a tunnel is established.
