Säuglings-_Kleinkind-Eltern-Psychotherapie (SKEPT) ist ein spezifisches Behandlungskonzept, das auf frühkindlichen Regulationsstörungen abzielt. Diese Therapieform setzt darauf ab, sowohl kurative als auch präventive Ziele zu erreichen, indem sie Eltern und ihre Kinder im Alter von 0 bis 3 Jahren unterstützt, die unter solchen Störungen leiden. Die Entwicklung von Regulationsfähigkeit im frühen Kindesalter ist von entscheidender Bedeutung, da sie in der Interaktion mit den Eltern stattfindet und stark von deren Fähigkeit abhängt, sensibel auf die Bedürfnisse des Kindes einzugehen. Das Konzept der SKEPT wurde vom Institut für Psychosomatische Kooperationsforschung und Familientherapie (jetzt Institut für Psychosoziale Prävention) entwickelt, unter der Federführung von Prof. Dr. med. Manfred Cierpka. Es ist eine interdisziplinäre Zusammenarbeit von Fachkräften wie Kinder- und Jugendlichenpsychotherapeuten, Psychiatern, Pädiatern und Psychologen. Ziel dieser Therapie ist es, schnell Entlastung für betroffene Familien zu schaffen, indem sie auf die spezifischen Herausforderungen und Komplexität dieser Familienzusammenhänge abgestimmt ist. In der 1999 gegründeten "interdisziplinären Spezialambulanz für Eltern mit Säuglingen und Kleinkindern" wurden hauptsächlich Kinder mit Symptomen einer Störung der emotionalen und Verhaltensregulation behandelt. Verhaltensregulation im frühen Kindesalter basiert auf der Interaktion mit den Eltern und erfordert eine feinfühlige Anpassung der elterlichen Unterstützung an die sich entwickelnden Fähigkeiten des Kindes. Daher sind Regulationsstörungen eng mit einem hohen Elternbelastungspotenzial, Problemen im Familiensystem und verschiedenen biopsychosozialen Risikofaktoren verbunden, die eine interdisziplinäre Analyse und ein multimethodischer Ansatz bei der Behandlung erfordern. Die primären Ziele der SKEPT-Behandlung sind die Reduzierung der Entwicklungskrise, in der das Kind oder die Familie steckt, sowie die Verbesserung der Eltern-Kind-Beziehung und die Förderung einer gesunden emotionalen und sozialen Entwicklung des Kindes. Durch die Unterstützung der Eltern in ihrer Fähigkeit, die Regulationsprozesse ihres Kindes adäquat zu unterstützen, wird nicht nur das Kind direkt behandelt, sondern auch die Eltern selbst gestärkt, was wiederum die Gesamtfamilie stärkt und präventive Effekte gegen zukünftige Störungen hat. Die SKEPT-Therapie beinhaltet oft Elemente wie Elternberatung, individuelle Therapiesitzungen für Eltern und gegebenenfalls auch Gruppentherapie. Dabei werden Techniken und Strategien vermittelt, die den Eltern helfen, die Kommunikation mit ihrem Kind zu verbessern, emotionalen Bedürfnissen angemessen zu reagieren und ihre eigene Belastung zu bewältigen. Es geht dabei darum, eine harmonischere Interaktion zwischen Eltern und Kind herzustellen, die das Kind fördert, seine Regulationsfähigkeiten zu entwickeln und sich sicherer und stabil in seiner Umwelt zu fühlen. Durch diese intensiven und individualisierten Maßnahmen kann die SKEPT-Therapie dazu beitragen, Entwicklungsverzögerungen und psychosoziale Probleme im frühen Kindesalter frühzeitig zu erkennen und zu behandeln, bevor sie zu schwerwiegenderen Störungen führen. Dies hat langfristige positive Auswirkungen auf das Wohlbefinden der Kinder, ihre soziale Anpassungsfähigkeit und die Gesundheit der Eltern-Kind-Beziehung.
