To print Readme.txt, open it in Notepad or another word processor, then use the Print command on the File menu. -------- CONTENTS -------- SHORT CUT KEYS FOR MACINTOSH WINDOWS 98 INSTALLATION PROBLEM -------- SHORT CUT KEYS FOR MACINTOSH ============================ Due to technical reasons, it was not possible to support Command-X, Command-C, and Command-P for cut, copy, and paste in this version. However, the corresponding ctrl keys ctrl-X, ctrl-C, and ctrl-P work throughout the program. This will be changed in a future version of the product. WINDOWS 98 INSTALLATION PROBLEM =============================== Under Windows 98, Microsoft has a bug in several of their applications which launch as soon as your computer starts. This leads to crashes in Primer Premier as well as many other third party programs. The affected programs are listed below. If Primer Premier crashes shortly after installation it is mostly likely due to this bug. Please follow the procedure below to get the relevant patch from Microsoft: 1. Close all programs 2. Open Start>Settings>Windows Update from the toolbar 3. This will take you to the Windows Update page: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ 4. Select Download 5. The program will look at what patches are available for your computer and present you with a long list 6. The patch you need will be described as follows: Microsoft Libraries Update (time) This update resolves an issue that can cause some third party software to behave unexpectedly after the installation of the Microsoft(r) Works Suite 99, Encarta(r) Encyclopedia 99 (U.S. only), Encarta Virtual Globe 99, Studio Greetings 99, and/or other third party software.
