NOAA 气溶胶和海洋科学考察(AEROSE)是一种基于测量的综合方法,用于了解热带海洋上空气溶胶长程飘移的影响(Morris 等人,2006 年;Nalli 等人,2011 年)。因此,AEROSE 活动(迄今为止由 9 个独立的跨大西洋项目阶段组成)提供了一套现场测量方法,用于描述大陆气溶胶外流(包括尘埃和烟雾)对大西洋的影响和微物理演变(Nalli 等人,2011 年)。AEROSE 试图解决三个核心科学问题(Morris 等,2006 年): 1. 气溶胶(如尘埃、烟雾)在海洋传输过程中如何影响大气和海洋参数?2. 气溶胶分布在传输过程中是如何发生物理和化学变化的?3. 卫星遥感在解析和研究上述过程方面有哪些能力?(我们最近增加了第四项研究,重点是海洋边界层大气颗粒物上微生物群落的迁移和演变。

NOAA PNE/AEROSE Overview
• NOAA Aerosols and Ocean Science Expeditions
(AEROSE) are ship-based intensive field
campaigns conducted since 2004 in
collaboration with
– Howard University NOAA Center for Atmospheric
Sciences (NCAS) and NOAA/NESDIS/STAR
– NOAA PIRATA Northeast Extension (PNE) buoy
project
– NOAA/PSL (formerly ESRL/PSD) and UM/RSMAS
• The PNE main mission is charged with servicing
moored TAO buoys in the tropical Atlantic
• The PIRATA buoy region is of interest in terms of
meteorology (over multiple space-time scales)
as well as air-quality
– Saharan air layers (SAL) and dust aerosol outflows
– Main development area for Atlantic tropical
cyclones
– Anthropogenic biomass burning aerosols and trace
gases, including tropospheric ozone
