1. General
1.1. Overview
This document describes the main features of Gridwiz EV Emulator and provides detailed
instructions. Users can refer to detailed hardware interfaces and software implementation examples.
With Gridwiz EV Emulator, users are able to test the whole charging sequence between the EV
and the EVSE as Figure 1. On the left is the EVSE states during the charging process, and their
relevant DIN 70121 messages are shown on the right.
Gridwiz EV Emulator supports DC charging test based on DIN 70121 communication protocol and
equips 3kW load bank for real load test.

2. Main Features
✓ KVM switch console installed with EV Emulator S/W
✓ Supports DC Combo Type 1
✓ Supports IEC 61851-1 & DIN 70121 RC6 communication standards
✓ Supports positive & negative test case scenarios in configurable environments
✓ Supports real load test (DC, 3kW capacity)
✓ Provides Test Report for each individual tests
✓ Supports PWM Monitoring and Voltage/Current/Power graph
3. EV Emulator Software
3.1. Specifications
The main software component of the emulator system is the DIN 70121 compliant charging
communication module.
Main features of the EV Emulator softaware include:
✓ DIN 70121 RC6
✓ TLS 1.2
✓ SDP (SECC Discovery protocol)
✓ Stateless Address Autoconfiguration (SLAAC)
✓ Signal Level Attenuation Characterisation (SLAC)
✓ IEC 61851-1 SAE J1772
3.2. Software Modules
✓ V2GTP (XML-EXI)
✓ Charging Logic
- Control software for implementation of the charging process
- Analyzing / configuring the electronic load
✓ Control and Monitoring
- Control and monitoring of connector interlocking
- High voltage monitoring: current and voltage
- Evaluations of the Combo Type 1 plug
- Emergency cancle switch
