ReadMe for Debugging Microsoft .NET 2.0 Applications
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
All the source code for the book is contained in the Debugging.MSI file. You do
not need to be an Administrator to install the code. To conform to Microsoft
logo requirements, the installation defaults to the installing user's
My Documents directory so you may want to change it as part of the install.
If you have installed a previous version of the code, the .MSI files can perform
upgrade installs. However, since I haven't provided a bootstapper, you'll need
to execute the following in a Command Prompt:
msiexec /l* log.log /i Debugging.msi REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=vomus
For more information on the source code, see ReadMe.CHM in the install root
directory. READ THE README.CHM FILE BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO BUILD THE CODE!
After you've run the initial install, you can choose to install all the AddIns,
Visualizers, Code Analysis Rules, and other Visual Studio 2005 extensions
by executing WintellectToolsInstall.MSI from an Administrator account. You'll
find WintellectToolsInstall.MSI in the root directory where you installed the
code. All tools and extensions are installed for all users. The
WintellectToolsInstall.MSI also supports upgrade installs.
Please note that because of a bug in Visual Studio , if you choose to uninstall
the AddIns installed as part of WintellectToolsInstall.MSI, none of the toolbars
will be deleted. To delete the toolbars, navigate to the
"Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\MSEnvShared\Addins"
directory and run the *UninstallHelper.JS files once for each user. Once you've
removed the toolbars, you can delete the *UninstallHelper.JS files.
By installing this code, you are agreeing to abide by the license agreement
included in the installation as well as in the ReadMe.CHM file.
