PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING ISSUES AS YOU USE VERSION 4.20.
1. For updates to the readme, release notes, or errata, you can retrieve the latest files (420readme.txt, 420relnt.txt, 420errata.txt) from the Cutler-Hammer Automation web site at www.cutlerhammer.eaton.com/automation. These documents are also available through the Customer Support FAX-Back system at 614-899-5323. Using a touchtone phone, you can select to have product information, specifications, technical notes, and company news from our automated product literature and technical document library faxed directly to you.
2. This README.TXT file is located on the \PM\CORE\disk1 directory of the CD-ROM. The README.TXT file is copied to your installation directory on your hard drive during setup. The Release Notes are also on the \PM\CORE\disk1 CD-ROM directory in a file called RELNOTE.TXT which is also copied to your installation directory. The Release Notes describe issues that have been fixed and new functionality that has been added to this load. A hard copy document titled PanelMate Power Series V4.20 Errata is included with your software. This document describes application issues associated with this version of the software. Please review these application issues as you use this software.
3. When running on the Windows 3.1X operating systems the Configuration Software requires share.exe to be running for proper execution of the editor. The setup utility detects if share is loaded in memory at the time of the install. If it is not, it adds the share command to your config.sys file as will be noted at the end of the installation. On Windows 95 and Windows NT operating systems share is not an optional runtime component and is always detected during installation.
4. When running on the Windows 3.1X operating systems the Configuration Software requires BUFFERS to be set to at least 40 and FILES to be set to at least 50 in your config.sys file. Note that the setup utility will automatically add or modify these commands in your config.sys file. If the config.sys file contains a BUFFERS command with the second field (i.e., BUFFERS=x,y), the Configuration Software setup utility will not alter the command but will add a new command, BUFFERS=40, to line 1 of the file.
5. The setup utility will add or modify a [Paradox Engine] section in the Win.ini file. If other software packages have been previously installed which also use a Paradox database runtime engine they may be affected by the PanelMate editor installation. For this reason the setup utility automatically backs up your old Win.ini file. For tips on running PanelMate with other Paradox database users refer to Tool Tip #13 from the Cutler-Hammer Customer Support BBS or FAXBack system.
6. If context-sensitive online help cannot be found on a particular item, use the Help search function or view the Table of Contents for the desired topic.
7. Version 3.00 and 3.01 users, please note that when upgrading to version 3.1X, 3.2X, 3.3X, or 4.XX you also need the PLC drivers from 3.1X or later. Version 3.00/3.01 drivers will not function with executive firmware version 3.1X, 3.2X, 3.3X, or 4.XX and 3.1X/3.2X/ 3.3X/4.XX drivers will not function with executive firmware versions 3.00/3.01.
8. If the display driver of your PC does not support 256 color mode, or if 256 color mode is not selected, then the configuration editor will not correctly display the color and blink attributes which will be seen by the online PanelMate unit.
9. If, when running the PanelMate Power Series Configuration Editor you experience long time delays on disk intensive operations such as importing, exporting, and saving configurations, make sure that disk caching is configured properly. On Windows 3.1X systems the smartdrive utility (smartdrv) should be running with write caching enabled on the drive (usually C:) containing the database. Refer to your Windows 3.X documentation for help in setting up smartdrive.
10. For PanelMate PC only, if the NT Runtime Executive is installed (NT 4.0X compatible) you must follow the installation prompts to install the PanelMate Windows fonts to the Windows\Font directory and to reboot the NT system prior to running PanelMate PC online. To install the fonts, first open the Windows Control Panel. Next, open the Fonts utility, then use the menu function "File-Install New Fonts". The dialog box will allow you to select the PMCONFIG\Ntfonts directory, then select a font and "OK". Repeat until all four fonts are installed.
