With the number of organizations using DevOps growing
dramatically, it only makes sense that a lot of people on
those DevOps teams are new — some even really new — to
the technology and practice. Actually, according to the 2021
Upskilling Enterprise DevOps Skills Report from DevOps Institute,
24 percent of the more than 2,000 DevOps professionals surveyed
say they’ve been on their DevOps team for less than a year,
while another 30 percent have between one and two years of
experience. That means if you’re new to DevOps, you’re certainly
not alone.
This guide will help you get up to speed. We’ll explain what
DevOps is (and isn’t), and key technologies and terms you’ll need
to understand, as well as why collaboration is so critical. We’ll
showcase an example of DevOps working in the real world, and
then explain why DevOps can help your career and your paycheck.
Finally, we’ve got an extensive list of resources and a quiz so you
can test your knowledge.
Let’s dive in.
