1. About the Software
---------------------
MG-SOFT MIB Browser Professional Edition with MIB Compiler is an SNMP
MIB Browser running on Microsoft's 32-bit operating systems (Windows 95,
Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP and
Windows Server 2003) and Intel based Linux operating systems (RedHat,
Mandrake, SuSE,...).
MIB Browser lets you monitor and manage any SNMP device on the network
(i.e. file or database servers, modems, printers, routers, switches,...)
by using the standard SNMPv1, SNMPv2c and SNMPv3 protocols over IPv4,
IPv6 or IPX networks. Along the standard SNMPv3 USM model, MIB Browser
supports also Diffie-Hellman key exchange model, so that DOCSIS-based
SNMPv3 agents (i.e. cable modems, cable modem termination systems,
set-top boxes etc.) can be seamlessly contacted and managed.
MIB Browser allows you to perform the SNMP Get, SNMP GetNext, SNMP
GetBulk and SNMP Set operations. Besides, the software lets you capture
the SNMP Trap and SNMP Inform packets that were sent from arbitrary SNMP
devices or applications on the network.
MIB Browser can monitor several SNMP devices simultaneously and contains
features like SNMP Table viewer, SNMP Table 'editor', logging capabilities,
real-time graphical presentation of queried numerical values, scan for
implemented MIBs in agents, comparison of SNMP agent snapshots, etc.
Generic SNMP Trace window displays SNMP messages exchanged between MIB
Browser and SNMP agents. SNMP messages are displayed in raw hexadecimal
dump format as well as in the decoded, human-readable format. Therefore,
the Generic SNMP Trace window is particularly useful for debugging when
developing an SNMP agent and for resolving problems when MIB Browser
cannot properly query an SNMP agent.
The enclosed MIB Compiler lets you compile any standard or vendor
specific MIB file. The compiled MIB file can then be loaded and
utilized by MIB Browser. Generally, MIB files are supplied by
vendors of SNMP manageable devices, and contain description of
the manageable object hierarchy and object attributes in the SNMP
device. In other words, MIB files serve as roadmaps for managing
SNMP devices.
The enclosed MIB Explorer is a powerful and intuitive software for
comparing MIB definition files and for searching for dependencies
between them. With the user-friendly interface for specifying query
conditions, the user can search for any values and constructs in MIB
definitions. Besides, the software can create various reports and
export MIB definitions to HTML, DHTML, PDF, XML, MOSY, and TXT file
formats.
The enclosed Visual MIB Builder is a software with which you can design
and edit MIB definition files in a highly productive way. Due to its
intuitive graphical drag-and-drop environment, where most of edits are
visual, you do not need much knowledge about ASN.1 syntax or MIB module
definition language to create MIBs. This means the software is suitable
for beginners in SMI. On the other hand, due to full support for SMIv1
and SMIv2 standards and advanced features like SMI revision control,
Visual MIB Builder is also suitable for experienced SMI gurus. MIB
definition module can be designed within minutes, no mater if it
contains table definitions or not. MIB modules designed with Visual
MIB Builder will be syntactically and semantically correct and will
compile with any SMI compliant MIB Compiler.

* Visual MIB Builder,
* MIB Explorer,
* MIB Browser Professional Edition and
* MIB Compiler.
Visual MIB Builder and MIB Explorer are available in
Standard and Developer's Edition while MIB Browser
is available in the following four editions:
* MIB Browser Professional SNMPv1/v2c Edition
(supporting SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c protocols).
* MIB Browser Professional SNMPv3 Edition
(supporting SNMPv1, SNMPv2c and SNMPv3 protocols).
* MIB Browser Professional DOCSIS/DH Edition
(supporting SNMPv1, SNMPv2c and SNMPv3 protocols
as well as the Diffie-Hellman key exchange
model for managing DOCSIS-based SNMPv3 agents.
Besides, this edition supports IPv6 protocol).
* MIB Browser Professional Developer's Edition
(supporting SNMPv1, SNMPv2c and SNMPv3 protocols,
Diffie-Hellman key exchange model and the
Generic SNMP Trace debugging option. Besides,
this edition supports IPv6 protocol).
Which of these applications and which features will be
available in the installed software, depends on the
purchased license.

3. What's New in this Version
-----------------------------
Here is a brief information about major new functions and features in
the latest releases of MG-SOFT MIB Browser Professional Edition, Visual
MIB Builder, MIB Explorer and MIB Compiler:
MIB Browser Professional Edition, Version 9.0
---------------------------------------------
* Selectable binding interface. On computers with two or more network
cards, the user can select which network card (interface) should be
used by MIB Browser for sending out SNMP requests.
* Support for the IPv6 protocol (Internet Protocol Version 6).
MIB Browser can now perform all SNMP operations also over IPv6
networks.
* Comparing SNMP agent snapshots. MIB Browser lets you compare two
SNMP agent snapshots side-by-side, showing all implemented object
instances including their syntax and value. Snapshots can be taken
either from two different SNMP agents or from one SNMP agent at
different times.
* SNMP Table 'editor'. The SNMP Table View window now lets the user
modify values of writable SNMP table object instances, and send
the updated values to the agent, all at once.
* Add Row feature. In the SNMP Table View window the user can now
perform SNMP Add Row operation in a straightforward manner.
* Experimental support for the CFB-AES-128 privacy protocol. The
standard User-based Security Model implemented in MIB Browser is
now enhanced with strong 128-bit CFB-AES protocol.
* Enhanced functionality of the Generic SNMP Trace window. The window
can now be configured to trace SNMP requests sent from any MIB
Browser's window, trace received responses to sent SNMP requests as
well as trace received SNMP Trap and Inform notification messages.
Besides, the window now contains significantly enhanced viewer of
captured packets which makes displayed SNMP messages even easier
to understand.
* Enhanced printing capabilities. MIB Browser can now generate printout
reports from various windows.
* Significantly updated and enhanced User Manual with numerous hints
and usage examples will help you get the most from MG-SOFT's MIB
Browser Professional Edition.
Visual MIB Builder, Version 5.0
-------------------------------
* SMI Consistency Wizard. This new feature significantly enhances
the ability of Visual MIB Builder to import, repair and recover
inconsistent MIB definition files. Using this wizard, the user
can fix 'broken' MIB definition files in minu
