Belcarra Windows USBLAN Software Install

The Windows USBLAN software is provided under license from Belcarra (see
EULA.RTF).
This installation program installs it for use with the Belcarra USBLAN
Function drivers for embedded devices.
The driver install program is provided as a self-extracting archive that
will be named as follows:
btusblan-VENDOR-VVVV-PPPP.exe
Where:
VENDOR is your vendor identification string
VVVV is the assigned USB Vendor ID
PPPP is the assigned USB Product ID
It is STRONGLY suggested that you run this program to install the windows
drivers (A) BEFORE attempting to connect your device to your Windows system.
If you have plugged your device into your Windows system before installing
the drivers and did not select "cancel" during the "new device dialog" you
will need to follow the instructions USB Device Driver Removal (E) below to
remove the device.

Installation of software
************************
This is only done once and should be done BEFORE attempting to plug your USB
Device into your Windows system.
1) Locate driver installation program (CD-ROM, Floppy (A drive)
e-mail attachment)
2) run the file (if on CD-ROM it may automatically start)
3) Belcarra USBLAN agreement (eula, to proceed Click on [I agree]
4) Select Belcarra USBLAN installer Setup Installation Folder
5) Directory location window appears
6) Select location where to install the driver (default is
C:\Program Files\Belcarra\USBLAN) click [install]
NOTE: If driver was previously installed you may need to overwrite files
If you need to run the install program directly you will need to find the
a file that is named something like:
btcrndis-VENDOR-VVVV-PPPP.exe
Normal Device Install
*********************
This process will be repeated the first time you plug each USB Device into
your Windows system. Once Windows has recognized the device and decided what
software to load for it, that software will be loaded each time you plug the
device back into Windows.
Because each USB Device has a different serial number Windows will go
through this process for each separate device.

1) Plug USB cable into the USB port
2) "Found New Hardware" dialogue box will appear (may take a few
seconds)
3) Notification regarding Microsoft's "Digital Signature Not Found"
continue by clicking [Yes]
4) "Found New Hardware" Dialog box - "installing software"
5) "Found New Hardware" dialog box, "has finished", click on
[Finish]
WinXP
=====
1) Plug USB cable into the device USB port
2) "Found New Hardware" dialog box will appear (may take a few
seconds)
3) "Hardware Installation" dialog box, notifies about Windows Logo
testing, click on [Continue Anyway]
4) "Found New Hardware" dialog box, "installing software"
5) "Found New Hardware" dialog box, "has finished", click on
[Finish]
WinME/98SE
==========
1) Plug USB cable into the device USB port
2) "Found New Hardware" dialogue box will appear (may take a few
seconds)
3) Notification shown "Windows is installing software"
Verifying Device Operation

WinXP/2K
========
1) Click on the "Start" button on the Windows Desktop
2) Select Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt
3) Type " ipconfig /all"
4) Find configuration for Belcarra device
5) Verify IP address
WinME/98SE
==========
1) Click on the "Start" button on the Windows Desktop.
2) Select "Run...".
3) Type winipcfg, enter [OK]
4) Verify IP address
Device Unplug
*************
For some systems such as Win2k it is desirable to use the unplug icon in the
task bar to tell the system you are about to remove the device prior to
actually unplugging the device.
Failure to do this may result in an "unsafe device removal" dialog box. If
this happens simply click on [ok].
USB Device Driver Removal
*************************
If device was plugged in prior to installing device driver it is advisable
to use the following removal procedure.
Win2K
=====
1) Plug USB cable into the USB port
2) Click on the "Start" button on the Windows Desktop
3) Select "Settings", then "Control Panel".
4) From the Control Panel, double click on the "System" icon.
5) From the System Properties, click on the "Hardware" tab.
6) Click [Hardware Wizard]
7) Add/Remove Hardware Wizard dialog box appears - click [next]
8) Choose a Hardware Task - select Uninstall/Unplug a device - click [next]
9) Choose a Removal Task - select Uninstall a device - click [next]
10) dialog box - Windows searching for PnP Hardware
11) select device - i.e. Belcarra USB remote NDIS Network Device
12) point [click] and device name will be highlighted - click [next]
13) Uninstall a device - confirm by selecting Yes - click [next]
14) dialog box "Completing the Add/Remove Wizard" - click [Finish]
15) unplug device
WinXP
=====
1) Plug USB cable into the USB port
2) Click on the "Start" button on the Windows Desktop
3) Select "Settings", then "Control Panel".
4) From the Control Panel, double click on the "System" icon.
5) From the System Properties, click on the "Hardware" tab.
6) Click [device manager]
7) find device (look for yellow ! icon)
8) select
9) delete key or right click and uninstall
10) "warning about to remove" dialog, click on [ok]
WinME/Win98
===========
1) Plug USB cable into the USB port
2) Click on the "Start" button on the Windows Desktop
3) Select "Settings", then "Control Panel".
4) From the Control Panel, double click on the "System" icon.
5) From the System Properties, click on the "Hardware" tab.
6) Click [device manager]
7) find device (look for yellow ! icon)- find and select device
8) click on [remove]
9) "Confirm device removal" dialog box, click on [ok]
10) "System settings change", request restart computer, click on
[yes]
Remember to close all open windows.
User can then do software (A) and device (B) install as described above.
USB Device Driver Upgrade
*************************
If device was plugged in prior to installing device driver it is advisable
to use the following removal procedure.
It is also possible to do a driver upgrade or reinstall for the device.
This must be done after software install.

1) Plug USB cable into the USB port
2) Click on the "Start" button on the Windows Desktop
3) Select "Settings", then "Control Panel".
4) From the Control Panel, double click on the "System" icon.
5) From the System Properties, click on the "Hardware" tab.
6) Click [device manager]
7) select device
8) point [click] and device name will be highlighted - click [next]
9) click right mouse button
10) select [Properties], click on "driver" tab
11) click [Update Driver]
12) Upgrade Device Driver Wizard dialog box - click [Next]
13) Install Hardware Device Drivers - select - click [Next]
14) Specify location - (for default) - click [Next]
15) "Upgrade DFevice Driver Wizard" dialog box - select location -
click [OK]
16) Driver Files Search Results confirm - click [Next]
17) Completing the "Upgrade Device Driver Wizard" dialog box -
click [Finish]
