Loading the USB Driver
The mdiserial.inf USB driver is used to establish HMI communications with a PXC Controller and to change the baud rate on older P1BIMs.
NOTE: If you are running Windows XP copy the file usbser.sys to the WINDOWS\system32\drivers directory if it is not already present.
Load the USB Driver on your laptop as follows:
1. Copy the mdiserial.inf file to the directory of your choice. (C:\TXIO folder for example).
2.With the PXC Controller or P1BIM powered up and running connect one end of a standard USB device cable to a USB Host port on your laptop
and the other end to the USB Device port of the PXC Controller or P1 BIM.
Your computer should display a Found New Hardware dialog box within a few seconds.
For Windows XP:
1. Click on the dialog box to launch the installation wizard. If the wizard does not automatically start, select Control Panel � Add Hardware.
2. Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and then click Next.
3. Select Don�t search. I will choose the driver to install and then click Next.
4. Select Have Disk and then browse to where you stored midiserial.inf.
5. Click OK. The driver is installed.
6. In Device Manager under Ports (COM and LPT), note the Port Number assigned to USB Serial Port.
Note the baud rate setting does not matter. It will communcate at any baud rate setting.
For Windows 7 32 or 64 bit OS.
1 Right Click on my computer and select properties.
2. Navigate to Device Manager.
3 Open the Other Devices folder.
4 Right Click on the SBT USBD Serial Emulator and select Update Driver.
5. Select Browse My Computer for the software Driver.
6. Browse to the folder where you stored mdiserial.inf.
7. You will get a message stating that windows cannot verify the publisher of this software. Select Install Driver Software Anyway.
8. You should get a message stating that Windows has successfully updated your driver sofware.
9. Click Close.
10.In Device Manager under Ports (COM and LPT), note the Port Number assigned to USB Serial Port.
Note the baud rate setting does not matter. It will communcate at any baud rate setting.
