* 1. Installation Instructions *

* Please print out these instructions or write them down before *
* starting this flash update utility. *
* *
* This flash under operating system (32-bit/64-bit) utility provides *
* the ability to update the system flash from a windows application. *
* *
* The utility may be downloaded from the internet and unpacked into *
* the default path: "C:\SWTOOLS\FLASH\5OJYxxUSA", where "xx" *
* represents the two digit flash level. After unpacking the utility, *
* run "afuwin.exe" from the default path to launch the windows *
* based flash application to update your system. *

* 2. Flash Under Operating System *
* *
* 1. Please make note of any settings you have changed in the BIOS *
* Setup utility. They may have to be re-entered after updating *
* the BIOS. *
* *
* 2. In the application graphical user interface, press button "Open" *
* and select the BIOS ROM image "imagexx.rom", where "xx" *
* represents the two digit flash level. Then press button "Flash" to *
* start the update process. When the update process is complete, *
* press button "Exit" to exit the application. *
* *
* 3. Update may take up to 2 minutes. Do not power off or restart *
* the system during this procedure! It is highly recommended to *
* reboot your system after the update. *

* 3. Flash Program Options *
* *
* The default operation of the flash update program is to use the *
* graphical user interface provided by the AFUWINGUI program. You can *
* also run the program from a dos command box by running "flash.cmd". *
* Before running the "flash.cmd", please change the command line to *
* the options you need. The command format is include *
* "afuwin.exe <BIOS ROM file name> [option1] [option2] ... [optionX]". *
* *
* The following options are available when the program is invoked *
* from a dos box command line. *
* *
* [OPTIONS] *
* /p Program main BIOS image. *
* /b program boot block. *
* /n program NVRAM. *
* /q Quiet mode enable. *
* /reboot Reboot after update BIOS done. *
* /shutdown Shutdown after programming. *
* *
* The following example includes the standard options of the *
" file "flash.cmd": *
* afuwin.exe image36.rom /p /b *
* *

* 4. Flashing Back to an Older Level of BIOS *
* *
* In order to flash back to an older level of BIOS, the following *
* steps should be used to insure the latest flash utility is used. *
* *
* 1. Obtain the latest level of BIOS update program from the Lenovo *
* web site. *
* 2. Copy afuwin.exe, Ucoredll.dll, Ucoresys.sys, Ucorevxd.vxd ,Ucorew64.sys *
* from the latest bios update program folder to the older level *
* bios update program folder. Replace the same files in the older *
* level bios update program folder. *
* 3. In the application graphical user interface, press button "Open" *
* and select the BIOS ROM image "imagexx.rom", where "xx" *
* represents the two digit flash level. Then in the page "Setup", *
* make sure the option "Main BIOS Image" *
* and "Do Not Check ROM ID" are selected. At last, press button *
* "Flash" to start the update process. When the update process is *
* complete, press button "Exit" to exit the application. *
* 4. Update may take up to 2 minutes. Do not power off or restart *
