Types of Keys
Following are the keys that are used to control JReport:
Evaluation Key
Evaluations keys are used to control the amount of time that JReport will work. The
expiration date for evaluation keys is congurable. Once evaluation keys expire, the
product will no longer work.
If an evaluation key is being used for either Designer or Server, a watermark will be
displayed on the report. Evaluation keys are typically used when perspective
customers want to evaluate JReport.
Temp Key
Temp key are also used to control the amount of time that JReport will work. The
expiration date for temp keys is congurable. Once temp keys expire, the product
will no longer work. If temp keys are being used for both Server and Designer, no
watermark will be displayed. If a temp key is being used for one product and an
Evaluation key is being used for the other product, a watermark will be displayed.
Temp keys are typically used when customers want to demo JReport or when Sales is
awaiting customer payment.
Permanent Key
Permanent keys are used to control customer maintenance. There is no expiration
date or watermark however there is a congurable maintenance expiration date.
When maintenance keys expire:
1. Customer cannot upgrade to the latest released version
2. Customers cannot apply Updates and Service Packs
3. Customer cannot obtain any technical support
Regardless of whether maintenance keys are expired or not, the product will always
work.
There are 3 DateTime values a-ect the user key is maintenance expired or not.
1. User Key Maintenance expired date
2. Production release 0Date
3. Machine OS DateTime
