  • Physics from Symmetry 2015.pdf

In the course of studying physics I became, like any student of physics, familiar with many fundamental equations and their solu- tions, but I wasn’t really able to see their connection. I was thrilled when I understood that most of them have a com- mon origin: Symmetry. To me, the most beautiful thing in physics is when something incomprehensible, suddenly becomes comprehen- sible, because of a deep explanation. That’s why I fell in love with symmetries. For example, for quite some time I couldn’t really understand spin, which is some kind of curious internal angular momentum that almost all fundamental particles carry. Then I learned that spin is a direct consequence of a symmetry, called Lorentz symmetry, and everything started to make sense.

  • Physics From Symmetry.pdf

In the two years since the first edition of this book was published I’ve received numerous messages from readers all around the world. I was surprised by this large number of responses and how positive most of them were. Of course, I was cautiously confident that read- ers would like the book. Otherwise I wouldn’t have spent so many months writing it. However, there is certainly no shortage of books on group theory or on the role of symmetries in physics. To quote Predrag Cvitanovic

  • Waves(physical).pdf

About the series The aim of this series is to discuss the science of various waves. It consists of severalbooks, each covering a specific subject known as a wave phenomenon. Each book isdesigned to be self-contained so that the reader can understand the gist of thesubject. F rom this viewpoint, the reader can read any book as a stand-alone article. However, it is beneficial to read multiple books as it would provide the reader withthe opportunity to view the same aspect of wave dynamics from different angles. The targeted readership is graduate students of the field and engineers whosebackground is similar but different from the subject. Throughout the series, it isintended to help students and engineers deepen their fundamental understanding ofthe subject as wave dynamics. An emphasis is laid on grasping the big picture of eachsubject without dealing with detailed formalism, and yet understanding the practicalaspects of the subject. To this end, mathematical formulations are simplified asmuch as possible and applications to cutting edge research are included. The readeris encouraged to read books cited in each book for further details of the subject.
