These notes are intended to give computer graphics programmers
and artists an introduction to methods of simulating, animating,
and rendering ocean water environments. CG water has become a
l in visual effects work at all levels of computer graphics, from print media to feature films. Several commercial products
are now available for nearly any computer platform and work environment, in addition to proprietary tools held by a few companies,
which generate high quality geometry and images. In order for an
artist to exploit the tools to maximum benefit, it is important that he
or she become familiar with concepts, terminology, a little oceanography, and the present state of the art.
