Overview
Welcome to the Human Task Simulation User's Guide!
This guide is intended for users who need to become quickly familiar with the product.
This overview provides the following information:

Human Task Simulation in a Nutshell
DELMIA Human Task Simulation is a powerful tool used to create, validate, and simulate activities for "workers" using the DPM
planning and simulation infrastructure.
The activities that can be created for workers are:
● Walk
● MoveToPosture
● Pick
● Place
● Climb
Workers perform these activities within the PPR environment where they may walk or climb to a specific location, move from one
target posture to another, and pick and place parts in the work area. These activities can be combined with DPM Assembly activities
to analyze the relationship between workers and other entities within the simulation. They can be simulated and validated using the
powerful process simulation capabilities from DELMIA, allowing the user to test multiple alternatives for the work humans must
accomplish in a specific manufacturing environment.
Prerequisite for Human Task Simulation:
Human Builder must also be installed with proper licensing.
Before Reading this Guide
Before reading this guide, you should be familiar with basic Version 5 concepts such as document windows, standard and view
toolbars. Therefore, we recommend that you read the Infrastructure User's Guide that describes generic capabilities common to all
Version 5 products. It also describes the general layout of V5 and the interoperability between workbenches.
You may also like to read the Human Builder User's Guide, for which the appropriate license is required.
Getting the Most Out of this Guide

To get the most out of this guide, we suggest that you start reading and performing the step-by-step Getting Started tutorial. This
tutorial will show you how to access the Human Task Simulation workbench and introduces you to:
● loading products and resources
● loading workers
● saving and restoring the initial state of the process
● workers and selection modes in V5 workbenches
● changing manikin display attributes
Once you have finished, you should move on to the User Tasks section of the book that provides procedures for using the features of
Human Task Simulation.
The Workbench Description section describes each functional icon or command in the workbenches.
The Customizing section explains how to customize settings and the Methodology section gives general recommendations for the
product.
The Glossary provides definitions of terms specific to Human Task Simulation and related products.
Navigating in the Split View mode is recommended. This mode offers a framed layout allowing direct access from the table of contents
to the information.
Accessing Sample Documents
To perform the scenarios, sample documents are provided. For more information about this, refer to "Accessing Sample Documents"
in the Infrastructure User's Guide.
