The DUMPSOME sample shows how to write a CGI application which uses
MFC and the DAO SDK classes to retrieve some information from a DAO
database. The program relies on the EMPLOYEE.MDB sample database
from the DAO SDK. The sample isn't included in this archive.
The code in the sample is commented to indicate assumptions which
are hard-coded about the format of the data. If you want to use
the sample against a different database, you'll need to pass that
database name to the call to OpenDatabase(). You'll also need to
adjust the loops which print the results.
To install and use the sample:
1) Find the root directory of the published web space on your
server. For Microsoft Internet Information Server, this is
typically C:\INETPUB\WWWROOT.
2) Build the sample. Iu used Visual C++ 4.2 Professional Edition,
but you should be able to build the sample with any Visual C++
version from 4.0 on... as long as you have the DAO SDK installed.
3) Copy the resulting EXE to the directory you found in step 1
4) Copy the EMPLOYEE.MDB file to the directory you found in step 1
5) Use the Microsoft Internet Service Manager to provide executable
priveleges on the directory you found in step 1. Instructions for
this are in the Microsoft Internet Information Server Documentation.
6) Once everything is copied, you can hit the extension by asking your
web client to visit:
http://mooseboy/dumpsome.exe
if your server was named "mooseboy".
